ABOUT SKULLS FOR SAMH

Who We Are

Jack Anderson at Dundee Woodturning has spent most of last year carving wooden skulls to be auctioned off to raise money for the Scottish Association for Mental Health (SAMH) Charity. Kirsty Dalton, good friend, and apprentice assisted Jack in putting this project together by helping coordinate the event and open call.

Everybody has or has known someone, with mental health issues, it seems, especially in the creative community. We have decided to make an attempt to raise money for an organisation that provides services tailored to individuals with an ethos of recovery. SAMH (The Scottish Association For Mental Health Sco-008897) after seeing some of the resources they offer. So much of the work we see from young artists is centered on these issues, so we are asking them to contribute their skills and vision to take these basic skulls shapes further.

The project has had 60 artists take part in both local and international cities.  The skulls were first revealed at our exhibition opening in October 2019. Which took place at WASPS Dundee.

The auction is now live and you can bid on any of the skulls. All bids must start at £40.00. The action ends on the 2nd of November 2019.

All proceeds go to SAMH Charity; this is a completely non-profit project.
