Skulls for SAMH have an incredible range of both local and international artists apply to take part. All artists transformed the wooden skulls into wonderful unique pieces of sculptural artwork. Below are alll the submitted skulls for the project.

This skull was created by Sarah Burt From Mysterious cube.

April Black Designs Skull. The skull team loved getting some close-up photos of this lovely skull to showcase it's detailing with alternating drilling holes and micro welded brass balls following the figure of the sycamore wood!

This skulls has been adpated by local Dundee artist Bruce Shaw. This piece has a beatiful landscape drawn on with inks.

This skull created by Viola Marx is called a 'Bloody Thing' . This piece addresses the difficulties many females face as a result of periodic hormonal changes and menstruation.

This skull called 'Save the bees has been hand painted with added beads and is themed on her fathers bee rescuing activities.

Introducing the Skull called 'The Woodcock Pilots Home' created by Jenna Martin Leitch. This lovely Oak skull was hand-painted with tiny goldcrest and a wee nest laden with three tiny eggs. Lots of beautiful details to see!

This vibrant colourful little skull called 'Happy' Should cheer you up! This skull was created by Vanessa Gibson and is full of hand-painted and drawn details and joy!

'The Skull of Bones' created by Lynn Smith. This skull on a skull was created with both handpainted details and ink drawings, with nice subtle touches of gold.

Add a splash of colour to your day with this amazing Skull created by Lisa Ainslie called 'Dot's'. Created using raised patterns and a variety of colours to bring us this wonderful creation!

Here is Maryam Deeni's skull called 'Fungi Bloom; The Forest' . Which has been hand-painted and inspired by nature.

This vibrant skull should certainly brighten up your day! This skull is called- 'Ouroboros' and was created by Mairi Islo Laird. Mairi has used vivid colours to create a snake forming around the skull.

This very delicate and detailed skull called 'Wings' created by the very talented Katie Gammie with hand-drawn and painted details reflecting insect wings and nature.

Introducing 'Skully Stardust' created by Monica Kurrikoff. This bowie inspired skull is full of personality and style!

Introducing the skull called 'The Street' created by Pamela Scott: Printmaker . The skull has hand-painted with intricate details. Painted with acrylics and Posca pens and was finished with a matte lacquer and shows an imagined street circling the sculpture.

David P Scot's skull called 'After Beckmann’. This very personal piece uses Max Beckmann's painting 'Sea with a Large Cloud ' to evoke an individual experience.

introducing the 'Honey Skull' created by Gemma Hare artist . This beautiful hand-painted skull has wonderful honeycomb patterns surrounding the skull and of course a stand out bee created in bright colours.

Here we have the Skull called 'An Overwhelmed Mind' created by the very talented Love Kelly Reilly . An interpretation of being tied up in anxiety with colourful fabrics and constricting black yarn.

Introducing Donna Forrester's skull called 'Hoadinit Dhegither' With lots of beautifully painted hands covering the skull and a little hint of purple sneaking through.

Introducing the skull called 'Lawrence' created by Stephanie Butler from Agni Prasada Burning. Lovely pyrography and painted in detail to create these beautiful little blue flowers that wrap around the skull

Introducing the skull called 'X Marks The Spot' created by James Gemmill. It has a wonderful pirate treasure map painted around the skull. It has lots of hidden details painted in bright colours.

Introducing Kirsty Angove's Skull called 'The struggle is Real' . This Skull has combines pyrography with stylized words which explore areas of Mental health.

Introducing Lucy Hendry skull called the ‘Golden Repair’. Utilising kintsugi and embossing techniques to repair a crack in the wood.

Introducing Eduardo Paolozzi inspired skull created by Siobhan K Morison. With it's Acrylic Backlit panels set in bronze effect with hints of blue coming through its resin panels, When rotating this skull in the light you can see colours shine!

Introducing this wonderful little skull called 'Forget Me Never' created by Little White Desk With hand-painted bright blue flowers!

Introducing Lucy Johnson skull called '‘From The Ashes’. At its a heart it is about hope. The dandelion represents resilience, defiance against its often hostile environment ; a sunny counterpart to the charred wood of the skull which references the practice of managed burning in forest regeneration. That sometimes, even in the darkest hour life seeks to find its way to the light.

Introducing the Skull called 'Breath' Created by Katie Bute. This skull was posted to us all the way from Switzerland. This beautiful hand-painted skull has vibrant floral patterns inspired by wildflowers and has touches of gold that shine in the light. Katie also included handpainted butterflies as accessories for her skull.

Introducing ' Fuzzy Thoughts’ created by Deborah Chapman from How it felt . Debz has worked with felt to create incredible puppets over the years and runs wonderful workshops dedicated to creating, talking and expressing yourself.

Introducing 'Skully'. Who has a very fascinating story the skull has pyrography and painted details done by Bee Mathews and her husband Andy Mathews created the wooden top hat on a lathe. This beautiful little creation is also made quite exciting by the top hat being attached by a magnet so it can be put on and taken off! Not to mention the beautiful designs all over the skull and hat!

ntroducing Duncan Adams skull called 'Giving Back ' . This skull has a cheeky little pigen sculpture on its head! Full of character and definitely brings a smile to your face.

Now introducing celie byrne creation called 'Not Broken' . This hand-painted skull has the look and feel of Porcelain with incredibly intricate details. This concept is based on the Kintsugi process of repairing broken pottery with gold. It has fantastic results with a wonderful finish on it.

Introducing miss arty piece called 'Im Cosmic' This wonderful space-themed piece is out of this world with colour! This spacescape is linked to the concept of personal space and our individual need for your own space to grow and flourish and be cosmic!

Now introducing Frazer from the lost astronaut skull called ' ‘Ceremoniun’ . This skull is wrapped in ceremonial alt fantasy patterns and mystical imagery.

Today we are introducing Yvonne Stewart from coramantic skull called 'Detached' . This piece has detachable eyes and nose and wonderful patterns and colours. It represents how when we are unwell we can feel detached and distant to those around us

This beautiful flora Skull was created by Jurgita Vas. It is called the 'Cycle'. Reflecting the cycles we go through mentally. It has a mixture of hand-painted details and collage!!

This skull is called 'The Fragility of Hope’. This skull is a representation of the electrical impulses in the brain of a person with depression. The blue active areas and the dark inactive ones. A delicate web of blue neurons over this black skull.

Trading Name- RóisÃn Dubh Name- Lauren O Boil Introducing Lauren O Boil from Roisin Dubh . This skull is called 'Growth from Darkness’ . This is one of the skulls which was painted with oil paints and has been adapted with sculptural forms. The gold on the top is inspired by kintsugi where broken pottery is repaired with gold or silver. Instead of being thrown out it is made more valuable with its repairs.

This stand-out skull has been set in a resin cylinder which both distorts and magnifies the suspended skull. The added colours also create a fascinating result making it look magnificent.

Introducing the Skull called 'Saorsa' created by Oku . Showing that good things can grow from the bad. With the tree growing from the charred skull. It has been beautifully constructed and has lots of hidden details

Introducing Katy Bremer Skull called - 'Dia de los Nendhi ' . This beautiful skull has an Elmwood stand and hand-sculpted flowers surrounding its base. Lots of intricate details and patterns to be found on this skull!

Introducing Kirsty Dalton skull called 'Recovery' . This skull has a layer of burnt in details that have been adapted and morphed with paint and waxes. This is to represent the layers of time and different stages of someone recovering from mental health issues. Taking personal time to recover and heal is immensely important and never to be overlooked.

Introducing incredible local artist Maggie Mline skull called 'The Secret Identity of Anna & Tommy' . This piece has blown us all away! This skull has become the bases for this bust. Mline included a book showing the stages and transition from skull to lady.

Introducing Charlotte Lodge Designs skull. It has a beautifully hand-painted octopus design that wraps around the skull. With hidden designs, colours and details painted in UV paint that comes to life in the dark.

Introducing John Fairly Skull Called 'Ash and Gold' .This traditional skull has Celtic Knotwork with hand-carved and painted details.

Introducing the skull called 'Black Dog' created by Ann Watson from Heist Jewellery. It has wooden letters and a lovely rose sitting perfectly in his month.

Bruce Shaw's second Skull. This piece explores the theme of an oak tree. The skull is made out of oak wood and has been beautifully hand-painted.

Introducing Isla Valentine Wade Skull! This beautiful piece is just a little oasis of joy! This hand-painted skull has wonderful abstract painted details and lots of splashes of colour!

This intricate delicate piece has been created by artist Hazel Swan called 'Kinware Skull'. This skull has been adapted beautifully to create a horse and carriage scene. All of the items are balancing on each other to create this unique sculpture.

Introducing Lorraine's skull from Smithy Graphics. This skull was painted to represent the two sides of the creative brain. One side to represents the goods days and the black side to represent the low days. This skull has been hand-painted and has a beautiful pattern and use of colour!

Introducing Catherine Patterson's skull called 'QB'. This is her take on a traditional day of the dead skull representing the perspective that considering the life of a bee can give your own life.

Introducing Tracy McSporran from Neo Design named 'Skilly' . This piece has been inspired by the artist's recent health issues and represents what happens when we push too hard for too long- we shatter. The piece has been created with mirror shards to create a shattered visage that creates wonderful reflections in the sunlight.

Introducing Zoe Gibson's skull. Who is packed with bright colours and personality. This skull has added on ears and a cheeky earing. The eyes of This skull will follow you around the room!

Introducing Steph Williams from Steph VARA Tattoo Studio called 'Celestial' . The artwork on this skull is inspired by nebula NGC 6188 The fighting dragon of ARA – an emission nebula located 4000 light-years away. A sacred geometric symbol, the Merkaba is placed on the crown chakra – this symbol comprises of 2 tetrahedrons spinning fast in opposing directions, creating a light body that is capable of interdimensional and interstellar travel. It represents pure divine energy, used in meditation it can become a source of power and enlightenment.

Introducing Stuart's skull called 'Fragmented Thoughts'. This piece has its own stand created with an upcycled clock base and has a craved section out of it which has added clock parts. This also has hand painted details and patterns with a light touch of spray paint.

Introducing Victoria Hudson's skull. This beautiful piece has hand-painted details with a seaside and tattoo theme covering the skull with hints of glitter.
